Gavin Beckwith
Gavin fell in love with music and started playing guitar in his early Teens. Bass guitar followed then keyboards, mandolin… Discovering a talent for computer programming at University he worked in the computer industry for 10 years. But in the background he indulged a passion for recording - graduating from 1/4” 4 track then 8 track up to a 24 track 2” inch analogue studio. This is where he experimented and learned the recording craft (with the help of some friendly industry pros). When computers and music combined with the arrival of Midi sequencers Gavin abandon systems analysis/programming and joined Norman Sheffield (ex Owner of Trident Studios and manager of Queen) to sell Apple Computer recording systems.
Seeing the impact new cheap technology could have he then had a brief career in Computer Post Production and Animation at Shepperton film studios. He then joined the fledgling Digital Village as the Digidesign specialist. After 10 years building the DV brand he left and set up his own Pro Tools recording studio and ran it for 5 years as Musician/Engineer/Producer/Programmer/Writer helping countless songwriters and bands get their music recorded. In that time he had his own songs released, and played on National radio and TV and co-wrote a song covered by Mis-Teeq. He also Produced/composed TV advert music for Phillips and other Multi-nationals. He also managed to find time to teach ND Music Technology and FD media (Sound for Video) courses at Further Education colleges.
Gavin now works for KMR Audio - a very Pro Audio retailer in North London as a sales consultant (specialising in Education). He still does sessions in his studio for his loyal client base.
