JAMES TO LAUNCH NEW ONLINE FORUM

In early 2008 JAMES will launch its exciting new JAMES Educators Forum (JEF) as a support resource for educators in the fields of Recording, Music Technology, Record Production, Film Sound Post-Production and all industry sectors related to Music and Media.

This pioneering forum will play a major part in the various support mechanisms for teachers and lecturers that JAMES is planning. It is designed not only to open up communication between the industry and education but to facilitate communication and sharing of best practice between educators themselves.

This International forum will be available to any “bona fide” educator in these fields, from Primary to University levels. Administration and technical support staff will be encouraged to contribute, as will Heads of Departments and even Vice Chancellors!

The Forum will have several sections which will include discussions on equipment, the relationships between the industry and society and on education methods. JAMES will keep you informed about its own events and opportunities and members will also be able to post information about wider educational training events.

Where more extensive advice is required, for example with respect to course or facility design, JEF subscribers can use the forum to lodge a request for services from our representatives in the industry sourced from the professional membership of the APRS and MPG.

David Ward, James Policy Director, says “We are proud of this next step in our industry’s support for Educationalists. The Forum perfectly complements our Course Accreditation and Master-Class initiatives. Our next step will be to look at the much requested “In Service Training” requirement for teachers.

There will be a small annual membership charge of £15.00 to cover administration costs and to finance the advertising/promotion of the forum in order to help reach new members. The Forum is hosted free for JAMES by Deep Blue Sound. Course leaders of JAMES Accredited Courses will be able to allocate free annual forum membership to a limited number of their own staff members while the courses remain in their period of validation.
