PROVISIONAL HE COURSE ACCREDITATION

JAMES Course Accreditation is normally awarded to established courses. This enables JAMES assessors to talk with students and get valuable feedback from them.

However, we are aware that JAMES Course Accreditation has also been suggested as a condition of initial course validation. Therefore we have created a scheme of “Provisional Accreditation” to facilitate our support for course design and the validation process.

When Provisional HE Course Accreditation is applied for JAMES will normally take part in the consultation, design and validation processes..

The Provisional Accreditation process will include:

  • Presentation of course documentation to include; course philosophy, course and module outlines, course content, recruitment rules and processes, staffing profiles, facility’s and resource’s specification.
  • A visit by two JAMES assessors to meet with staff and where possible, students from similar courses already running.

Provisional Course Accreditation will run for 18 months after the date of the first intake of learners. A further visit for Full Course Accreditation will then take place and will last for the normal term of 3 years from that date.

Should Full Course Accreditation not be possible at the 18month stage, then consideration will be given to an extension of the Provisional Course Accreditation.

Full details of all costs involved, including reduced cost options for multiple Course Accreditation at the same visit, are available here.
