Simon van Zwanenberg
Simon took the once archetypical route through the recording industry: beginning as a tape-op at the illustrious Town House Studios in London in the early ‘eighties, leaving to join the newly opened MasterRock Studios as an assistant, progressing to in-house engineer at the legendary Roundhouse Studios in Camden, before embarking on a freelance career.
Moving on to the console manufacturer Solid State Logic, initially as a Product Specialist, then becoming Senior Operational Training Engineer, he trained clients, engineers and producers from Rio de Janeiro to Beijing, and was involved in the product development of SSL’s broadcast and music mixing desks.
Never too far away from the faders, he has mixed recordings in Indonesia, live classical concerts in Bulgaria, ‘front of house’ at London’s famous Marquee Club, and recorded Bach in New College Chapel, Oxford. Recently he’s manned the board at the Covent Garden facility The Hospital, as a broadcast Sound Supervisor for various TV productions.
An articulate and enthusiastic communicator and motivator, Simon was a founder member of the APRS Education and Training Initiative, and is now Chairman of the JAMES Working Group, and a Director of the APRS and JAMES. He is also an Associate Member of the Institute of Broadcast Sound and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
Simon owns The Integrated Solutions Organisation (TheISO) which provides custom on-site, operational and product training packages to the pro-audio industry and educational institutions on a worldwide basis. He is responsible for commercial management, with a business focus on music and broadcast training.
