Phil started his engineering career in the late ‘70s, training at Morgan and Lansdowne Studios. He rose to house engineer at Regents Park Studios, before going free-lance in the early ‘80s.
Over three decades, Phil has recorded and mixed in the music, film and podcast industries. As a producer and mixer, he achieved chart success with Maxi Priest, Cathy Dennis, The Housemartins, D Mob, The Lighthouse Family, The Proclaimers, Paul Hardcastle and Dave Stewart with Colin Blunstone and Barbara Gaskin. Phil has also worked with Bryan Ferry, Brian Eno, Trevor Horn, John Williams, Ray Davies, Tina Turner, John Cale, Imogen Heap, Danny D, Dave Stewart, Stevie Wonder and The Brand New Heavies.Film score credits include ‘Evelyn’, ‘Bride of The Wind,’ and ‘Delovely’, featuring Robbie Williams, Alanis Morisette, Sheryl Crow, Natalie Cole, Mick Hucknall, Diana Krall and Elvis Costello.

In 2008, Phil helped design, develop and lecture on the Music Production FdA at City College, Brighton & Hove, and in 2011 he headed the online Music Mixing module at Point Blank, London.

Phil continues to provide on set recording and playback for feature films, and location recording and mixing for podcast and radio.

Along with being an Assessor, Phil is an Event Co-ordinator and handles the Film and Media Industry Portfolio.
