JAMES would like to congratulate Leeds Beckett University, The School of Arts and the music department on the fantastic new building and facilities seen by our assessors on this visit. Our three assessors were delighted to meet the enthusiastic staff and students.
Music and Sound at Leeds Beckett University
From musicians who are playing a key part in UK music to producers who have worked with some of the biggest names in the industry, our academic staff will share their experience and expertise to ensure you get the most from your time at Leeds Beckett. Whether you want to perform, produce or manage, the range of courses on offer will hone your skills and help you take your first steps into this exciting and ever changing area.
Our music studios will give you the creative space you need to write, mix, produce and record your own music and we were the first university in England to become a JAMES Integrated Learning Centre. You will be following in the footsteps of BRIT Award-winning musicians Piers Aggett and Kesi Dryden, of Rudimental, who both studied at the university.
Our academic team has a wealth of experience and includes staff who have produced award-winning work. You could be inspired by lecturers who include Ken Scott - Ken has more than 50 years of music production experience working with artists including The Beatles and David Bowie.
The Artist in Residence programme we run gives our students an opportunity to work with professional artists and gives them a taste of what is it like to work on a professional music project. Artists we have welcomed include Tom Williams, Utah Saints, Chris T-T, Ian Prowse and I Monster.
Leeds Beckett became the first University to receive accreditation from JAMES for the quality of our music technology courses
