The BA (Hons) Music Production course is within the School of Art Design and Performance, the largest School in a University of over 32,000 students. The course is situated in the £15 million Media Factory Building opened in 2008, which also houses a wide range of other creative arts degree programmes.

The course enables the student to develop the skills and knowledge required to work within the dynamic area of music production and technology. Student creativity is prioritised and the course content features composition, creative production skills, recording techniques, sequencing, sampling, sound processing and design and music video, alongside the contextual study of music and research/academic skills. The subject specific and transferable skills gained through this course allow graduates to move into a variety of careers within the creative industries.

Students receive training on Logic Studio and Avid Pro Tools and use Ableton Live, Reason, Cubase and Final Cut Pro. The Media Factory resources include two large recording studios and five smaller project studios alongside three computer rooms with access to networked DAWs and MIDI keyboards. We are also Avid Academic Partners and an Apple Authorised Training Centre for Education.

The course has developed successful franchises delivered at partner institutions overseas and in the UK, and the total number of both on and off-campus students is currently around 220.
