Dan Swift is a mix engineer, producer, recording engineer who has been making records for 30 years.

He began as a house engineer working in studios across London with artists such as Imogen Heap, The Libertines, Suede and Primal Scream.
When he began freelancing Dan was invited to record Snow Patrols’ platinum selling Final Straw LP (Run, Spitting games). He then went on to engineer tracks like Kasabian’s Reason is Treason and co-produce Aqualung’s Memory Man and Still Life albums (Brighter Than Sunshine, Pressure suit). He became the go-to engineer for labels such as Beggars Banquet, Fantastic Plastic, Fierce Panda, Double Dragon, Electric Toaster, Domino and gained a reputation as a world-class engineer who could bring vibrancy to a session.

“You need a terrific radar to gauge the pace of a session and a supernatural ability to sense what is needed in advance. One always has to think of sound in terms of relationships. You are dealing with the parts of an entity.”

Dan then progressed to production and mixing and opened his own studio Superswiftsound in London, producing artists such as Aqualung, Art Brut, Sam Isaac, Ben Mumford, The Chapman Family and Untitled Musical Project.

In 2010 Dan Relocated Superswiftsound to Brighton and immediately enjoyed a top twenty hit with Brighton based British Sea Power with the album Machineries Of Joy.

Dan has been mixing since the start of his career but in recent years has been gaining a reputation as an adventurous, creative mix engineer who always delivers, particularly for A Sides, with labels such as Heavenly Recordings, Modern Sky and publishers Bucks Music.

“It’s a turbo charge of everything the track stands for. Hyper clarification. Modern tech has given mixing increased powers (beyond dynamic control, tone and balance) blasting open the doors for greater creativity”

Some of Dan’s recent clients include Enjoyable Listens, Mark Lanegan, Stealing Sheep, Katy J Pearson, Chai, The Jackdaw, Ella Fence and Brit pop indie saviours itMan.

Of production Dan says “Producing music is about removing barriers and creating space for people, as well as space within the music. A producer recognises the best direction of flow and clears the way for it”.
