JAMES EVENT LIBRARY - DENNIS WEINREICH
Through the 70s and 80s Dennis was a successful music engineer and producer working with artists that included Jeff Beck, The Real Thing, Walker Brothers, Supertramp, Queen and many more. Shifting into production he enjoyed considerable chart success in the UK and abroad. He was a working engineer and producer in what was arguably the golden age of music recording and found himself working at many major facilities including Air, Abbey Road, Rak, Trident, Odyssey and Wessex among others. As his production successes grew… so did his collection of vintage mics and outboard gear.
In the early 80s he had the idea was to build a post-production facility that incorporated the latest technology found in music, but focused on TV and then film. Videosonics was born, eventually having 3 x THX certified Film Dubbing stages, 3 TV mix rooms, a music studio and 16 editing suites and a staff of 45.
In Post Production, Dennis and Videosonics were key to the development of digital technology as tools for post. Initially using sampler arrays as sound effects sources, triggered by timecode from their custom designed synchronisation equipment. This led directly to the development of the AMS Audiofile - one of the first, if not the first DAW.
He spent the early years of Videosonics mixing music, TV and Film projects, recording ADR and foley and editing, as well as taking key roles in various productions often overseeing all music and mixing.
In 2008 Dennis was headhunted to run Film and TV post at Pinewood Studios Group where he developed this world-renowned facility into a modern 21st century leader helping them to win the Oscar for film mixing for the film Slumdog Millionaire as well as the final Harry Potter films and many more.
Dennis left Pinewood in 2012 and has returned to music recording and production.

POSSIBLE WORKSHOPS / MASTERCLASSES:
Originally from Los Angeles Dennis Weinreich has enjoyed a number of parallel and successful careers in audio.
His insights into many elements of how the creative industries work, demonstrate parallels with his own career and can illustrate to students how they might see themselves developing. Dennis can tailor his presentations to focus on his music experiences, his film and post work, his experience in management and running studios - or a combination of all three.
The emphasis can be on creative application with insight into how the decision-making processes unfolds or just a telling of how many of the projects were undertaken. Although in reality most people just like hearing about the big 70s and 80s bands and what really went on!
