Session Musician in the Digital Age

Suitable for all instruments and vocalists, covers the basic principles of session work for online/remote sessions.
Real-life modern projects from the recent months are used to illustrate the process of completing successful online sessions.
Topics include: Technical requirements, pricing and payment, creative process.
Communicating with the client, revisions policy delivery methods, tips & tricks.

Mixing Demystified
(6 hours with lunch break)

Suitable for all musicians, this jargon-free class is aimed at mixing using project studio equipment, rather than the top-end studios that are out of reach for most students. Real-life sessions are used to demonstrate practical applications of mixing techniques learned in classrooms.
Topics include: Preparation, principles and use of compression, EQ, reverb, gain structure. Problem-solving vs. creativity in a mix, live drums, virtual instruments, guitars, vocals,
finishing touches.

Library Music

Suitable for all instrumentalists, this class uses real-life, current examples to cover composition and production of “the musicians’ secret weapon”.
Topics include: royalty structures, “soundalikes,” cut-down versions, underscores, legal issues, pitching content.
Stagecraft

Topics include: “Owning” the room, managing the technical environment, examples from real performances.

Songwriting for Musicians

P.A. Training

A must for all singers, but useful for band members also, this class equips the student to operate any P.A. system in safety and with confidence.
Topics include: Channel strips explained, the physics of sound, EQ, gain structure, effects, soundchecks, how to communicate with a sound engineer.

Guitar Sounds: Effects and Amps Explained

For guitarists, this class covers all aspects of sound, from fingers to loudspeaker.
Topics include: Amp controls, effects pedals, order of effects, choice of chord shape/voicing, using tunings to change sound.
